Genevieve’s Words of Wisdom
I wish I had known to ask VC investors specifically if they were starting a copy of my business or talking to my competitors. No one thinks to ask that, and investors can sometimes take advantage, literally incubating and creating a copy of your company while speaking to you. If you directly ask, they HAVE to answer yes or no. If they are talking to competitors, that’s not a huge deal, as they are likely getting a sense of the industry. But direct copycatting is just disgusting, and it happens more than you’d think. Know that what you tell a potential investor will be shared, and always be prepared to run faster and harder, all the time.
